Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009)
As fans of our doggies we wanted to take a look at good quality dog movies out there! Dog lovers deserve movies that pay respect to our canine companions and what makes them so funny, adorable and all round lovely. This week we sat down to watch ‘Hachi’
Ideal for the whole family or any canine loving film goer, this tale of an adopted Akita and the spell it casts on its’ family and the local community will surely leave few viewers dry eyed or unaffected
Brought home under temporary conditions, Hachi manages to bond with the Parker family. He becomes well known by the locals for waiting at the train station every morning when Parker (Richard Gere) heads to work. Hachi will sit obediently in Wintery conditions until the evening when Parker returns to greet him enthusiastically. It's a feeling that's very easy to share for those of us that can’t wait each day to return home to excited, furry-legged greetings!
‘Hachi’ rewards viewers who believe in the love and loyalty of their pets. The simplicity of the story is actually its main strength. Plot contrivances are kept to a minimum and the focus is rightly kept on the heart and humour of the story’s main relationship.
Directed with admirable restraint and acted by a committed cast, ‘Hachi’ demands little from its audience except to leave cynicism at the door and experience a beautiful tale that reminds us why a dog’s loyalty and love is so universal
Okay then! Your turn to hunt down this gem doggie flick. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Let us know what you thought of it :)))
